February 3 - April 13
Robert Tombs is a conceptual painter and considers paint's physicality and behaviour itself to be the narrative, rather than stricly a medium to illustrate other things. This core belief has informed 'Factory' - a series of works representing experiments in painted installation, including photographic and video documentation of earlier painted experiments in Brigus, Newfoundland; Erfurt, Germany; Paris, France; and Kingston, Ontario.
The Mississippi Valley Textile Museum is looking forward to bringing Tomb's work to Almonte, which has a regional history firmly rooted in the industrial production of textiles. It is the museum's hope that visitors will be challenged to think differently and view the museum's space in a new way, gaining a deeper appreciation and understanding for the intersection of art and industry.
